Hunter's Moon Art Trail - Call for Submissions

Helen McDonnell - Deer Ladies, Ciaran Coghlan - Bird paintings

Once more I am curating the Art Trail for Hunter's Moon Festival, here in Leitrim.
It was a great festival last year, bringing lots of interesting musicians and performers, artists and spectators to our lovely part of the country.

And here is the link to the festival website for this year.

I really enjoyed being involved in the festival last year, and hopefully this year can be even better!

Details below about how to submit.

Hunter's Moon Festival Art Trail seeking submissions from artists in all disciplines

After the success of last year's festival in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim, here at Hunter's Moon Festival we are looking for more weird and wonderful artists to join us in creating an art trail throughout the town for the October bank holiday weekend, 26th-28th October 2012.

Selected artists’ work will be shown/performed in various venues throughout the town, including vacant shops and The Dock Arts Centre, with a map of the art trail and a printed programme produced for festival-goers.

The Hunter's Moon is the name of the full moon which falls in October, so called as it was a time of night-hunting by the light of the moon. Darkness and light, the hunter and its prey, blood-shed and death or sustenance and life - these are just some of the themes associated with this time of year, coinciding with the pagan festival of Samhain.

We are looking for work in any discipline which reflects this theme. Applicants must be available to deliver and install their work during the week prior to the festival and to collect work on the Monday/Tuesday afterwards. Any work sold will be charged a commission of 15%.  Artists will be in charge of the transport, installation and deinstallation of their work. There will be a ten Euro fee for artists who are accepted.

The festival runs from the 26th-28th October 2012.

Applicants must submit proposals by email to: huntersmoonart at gmail dot com

Applications must be accompanied by a short artist’s statement, proposal of intended work/s with photographs where applicable, and examples of recent work – this can be image attachments c. 1MB in size or links to a website or blog and must be clearly labeled.

For more info on the festival and last year’s art trail, including a map and programme, see huntersmoonfestival.com under “Archive”.

We look forward to hearing from you. Please let us know if you need anything clarified: huntersmoonart at gmail dot com
Submission deadline: Friday 7th September 2012
