Autumn is here. Misty, crisp mornings, hats, scarves and gloves are out, the apples have almost all fallen and the sheep are getting ready for the ram.
There is beautiful colour in the landscape - some the bright blazing colours of trees and some the subtler colours of empty branches, dying plants.
We started lighting the fire a couple of weeks back, it has been so nice to sit in the warmth and knit in the brief time between the wee ones going to bed and me going.
I think I end up saying this about every season, but I do love Autumn! We've had lots of walks in the woods, collecting acorns, beech mast, conkers and leaves, climbing trees and eating a few lunches cooked over fires. (I can heartily recommend cooking popcorn with wee ones on a fire as a particularly exciting lunch - it's noisy, it flies everywhere, what's not to love?)
The weather has been amazingly dry, apart from the occasional deluge. It actually feels as if there's been less rain than the summer brought. Long may it last!
